SUNDAY HOMILY, 33RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – YEAR A

HOMILY: WEDNESDAY 5TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - YEAR B

SUNDAY HOMILY, 33RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – YEAR A

THEME: The Tenacity of Weeds!

By: Rev. Fr. Oselumhense Anetor

Wis.18:14-16,19:6-9; Lk 18:1-8

I remember reading a book by John Mason. One of the chapters of that book was titled “the tenacity of a weed”. Weeds by nature seldom die. Uproot them, cut them, burn them; they’ll still find a way to sprout. This is the kind of attitude Jesus encourages us to have toward prayers. We must keep praying, for though sorrow may last all night, joy comes at dawn.

Friends, wisdom makes us realise that we cannot trust in our own capacity to make the impossible possible. Storms may rise, gales blow, we may even have to pass through seas and oceans, but only if we trust God our deliverer, can we hope to scale through. Let’s not cower before our challenges. God is able. All we need do is keep praying, and victory is sure. But the Question remains, “are we persistent enough in prayer?”

Prayer
Dear Lord, may I never be tired of asking You for all I need. And may my faith never fail, Amen.

Good morning dear, God bless your weekend.
