2ND SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR B - HOMILY/YEAR B

SATURDAY : 6TH DAY WITHIN THE OCTAVE OF CHRISTMAS (HOMILY YEAR B)

THEME: Setting priorities right!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).

1Jn.2:12-17; Luke 2:36-40

The important things may not always be the easier things to do. During this Christmas season, for instance, it’s not unusual to find many who deliberately make a decision to indulge the desires of the flesh – entertaining lustful thoughts and conceding to fornication/adultery and other sexual perversions, taking too much pride in acquiring material possessions, and expending their energies on other transient worldly engagements…

Friends, John admonishes us not to love this world, for the world and all it craves is coming to an end. Take Anna the prophetess for instance, she was only married seven years before becoming a widow. But even at eighty four years, she still came to the temple day and night to serve God in fasting and prayer. She understood her priorities. No wonder she was rewarded with Christ’s presence in the temple. In our daily lives, we may have hindered our own spiritual progress by the kind of choices we make. Why not let go of sin and let God?

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
