Short homily for Thursday of the 1st Week of Advent
Theme: “Don’t just say Lord, Lord!”
By: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)
Homily for Thursday December 2 2021
Isaiah 26:1-6; Matt.7:21,24-27
Doing God’s will is not just about shouting and dancing in His presence. It’s also about taking His face into the market place, the streets, the villages, the offices… It’s about becoming a visible ‘advert’ for God. Acting on the word of God provides a ‘rock solid’ foundation for the sensible man. It is foolishness to hear the word of God without making efforts to live it out. When the rains come, when the floods rise and the storms blow, only the house built on rock will stand.
Friends, a strong spiritual foundation is only built by personal righteousness. As we go about our duties today, let us remember that trusting in the Lord is Key. There’s a popular song in many areas here in Nigeria: “Jesus is the rock, the only rock of ages, all other rocks, they are sinking sand, Jesus is the rock, the only rock of ages, all other rocks, they are sinking sand. May we not build on sinking sand, and may our trust in Christ the solid rock never fail us, Amen.
Good morning dear, God bless your day ahead.
