REFLECTION/HOMILY OF FRIDAY 7TH WEEK OF ORDINARY TIME – YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: STOP COMPLAINING SO MUCH!

BY: Fr Oselumhense Anetor

James 5:9-12; Mark 10:1-12

Does it not strike you as odd that we complain about everyone else but ourselves? We tend to exaggerate everyone else’s shortcomings, but when it comes to our own weaknesses, we tend to be most understanding. Why can’t we show this same level of understanding when faced with the imperfections of others?

Friends, the first reading today encourages us to stop complaining about one another. We must rather seek endurance and patience in dealing with our issues. Why do we have so many broken marriages today? Because spouses have suddenly forgotten they didn’t get married to perfect people. Let us make efforts to work harder for peace and harmony in our families and communities. Divorce should never be the answer for difficulties in marriage. For as Jesus himself says in the gospel reading, anyone who divorces his/her spouse and marries another, is guilty of adultery.

Good morning dear, God bless your weekend ahead
