MONDAY HOMILY: 30TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR A
THEME: A woman Bent Double.

Romans 8:12-17
Luke 13:10-17
We see in the Gospel of today the moving story of how Christ cured a woman who had been bent double by a spirit for 18 years. Just think of the length of those years.
I would wish we take these important lessons form today reading texts.
1. This woman was sick or bent double by spirit yet she would not excuse herself from the synagogue. she would not miss the gathering of the faithful. She had been coming for many years until today, when she met the Teacher and Healer.
See how different she is from many of us who at the slightest opportunity, excuse ourselves from church programs, even on Sunday. See what great blessings and irreversible opportunity we often miss. ( read Hebrew 10:25)

2. The healing of this woman presents to us that Jesus is greater than the devil and all its agents. The woman was bent by an evil spirit, but Jesus took away the captive from the hand of the Mighty. ( Isaiah 49:25) He bound the strong man and released the soul in his custody. ( Matthew 12:29) Jesus has power over sickness, over demons, principalities and powers. This should always inspire confidence and boldness in all who seek God. Bear in mind that He who is in us is greater than who is in them. (1John 4:4.
3. The. reaction of the rulers was indeed something to worry about, far from rejoicing with this woman, they were angry that Jesus healed her on the Sabbath day, as such broke the law of the Sabbath.
Dearest brothers and sisters, let us always learn to have a compassionate heart and feel the pains of others, let us try to receive the spirit of Christ as the first reading beseech us so as to remain the sons and daughters of God. I pray for you this day that Christ should help us to have a merciful heart each time, so that we may be able to obtain mercy from Him. Amen.
