HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE 34TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II. (2)

HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE 34TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II.

THEME: The last things!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

Rev.20:1-4,11-21:2; Luke 21:29-33

Pope Francis has talked about the foolishness of thinking there’s no hell; it’s self deception. As we come to the end of the liturgical year, the readings continue to reveal to us the last things. We shall die in time; we shall be judged based on what we did here on earth; those whose names aren’t in the book of life shall be condemned to a second death inside the burning lake of fire; and those found worthy shall inherit the new Jerusalem.

Friends, this is not the time to engage in vain arguments. It’s about time we started taking God’s word more seriously, for life on earth will pass away, but God’s word is eternal. Let’s begin to plan like serious people, knowing full well that every word, every deed, either put our names in God’s book or take us closer to the lake of fire. And don’t keep waiting till tomorrow, for tomorrow may be too late. The best time to be more intentional about the things of God is NOW. Are you with me?

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend ahead.
