HOMILY FOR EASTER MONDAY [YEAR B]
THEME: Christ is risen indeed!
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor
Acts 2:14,22-33; Matt. 28:8-15
The story is told of a mad man who felt he was tired of the sun. So one day, he went up a high mountain in the dead of night and positioned himself squarely. As soon as dawn came, he raised his voice and began commanding the sun, ‘O Sun, I command you, do not rise today!’ But soon the first rays of the sun pierced the horizon. Again he shouted, ‘sun, I tell you to stop rising…’ But the sun rose and shone brightly.

Friends, the Jews, like the mad man in our story, thought they could prevent Jesus from rising from the dead. But Jesus rose even while the soldiers slept through their supposed duties. The Jews went as far as bribing the soldiers so that they could spread false information among the people. Listen to this: ‘His disciples stole him while we were asleep!’ Seriously? My dear, don’t mind these soldiers. Jesus is risen. And he has gone back to where it all started – Galilee. It’s time for us too to go away from the busy places we’ve found ourselves in, and return with the Lord to Galilee. Are we ready?
Happy Galilee celebration today. God bless you loads, and Happy New Month of April.
