MONDAY HOMILY, 5TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME / YEAR B (St Agatha, Virgin, Martyr).

2ND SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR B - HOMILY/YEAR B

MONDAY HOMILY, 5TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME / YEAR B (St Agatha, Virgin, Martyr).

THEME: The power of his touch!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).

I Kings 8:1-7,9-13; Mark 6:53-56

Today we remember those who’re victims of lust and abuse of power. We pray for the little boy deceitfully taken from his village, now forced to hawk in the streets. We pray for the young lady sexually abused, and compelled to do tons of work, even though her parents were promised she’ll be taken to school. We pray for the many who’ve been taken from their homelands, oppressed, beaten, abused, and made to do things they ordinarily would never have done.

Friends, how long must we let lust rule us? How long shall our society continue to crave half naked ladies in our movies, musicals and adverts? Agatha suffered for lust. She had her breasts cut off by Quintanus, governor of Sicily, because she wouldn’t agree to defile herself. She died a martyr because she refused to let go of God’s powerful touch. Like Agatha, many of our young flowers continue to be destroyed by the lust of men and women today. May we learn to lift up our weaknesses before Jesus, that we may find true healing through the power of His touch.

Good morning dear. God bless your week ahead! St Agatha, pray for us!
