Theme: Trust and faith

Homily for Monday March 28 2022
As we begin the first working day of the week, dealing with the uncertainties of our present time, we draw strength from the central message in our readings: “the promise of a better life”. “No more will the sound of weeping or the sound of cries be heard” (Is. 65: 19).
The prophet Isaiah (Is 65: 17-21) speaks God’s Word announcing whole new life, re-creating life without pain and sadness- a new heaven and a new earth. This is God’s promise which will surely come to pass. However, we should be focused on the journey towards this new life in faith and action.
In the gospel (John 4: 43-54), Jesus travels back to Galilee and there performs a miracle which symbolizes the restored life that awaits all of us if we believe in the Word. The court official humbled himself, removed the cloth of pride and sought for Jesus in faith for the healing of his son. The words of Jesus: “Go home, your son will live’, became fulfilled creating new life.
Dear friends, God is so generous and extravagant with His love, ready to bend down in response to our misery and wretched condition. All God requires from us is trust and expectant faith even in the midst of suffering. Is there any area in your life that needs healing, pardon, change and restoration?
I pray as we journey in life today, we will courageously surrender our doubts and fears, our pride and guilt at the feet of our Lord Jesus, and trust in His saving Word and healing love. In the face of the present uncertainties of life, may our faith never weaver and may the joy of the Lord be our strength (Neh. 8: 10). Have a restoration-full day!
