HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF HOLY WEEK. (1)

HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF HOLY WEEK.

THEME: Give Him a place at table!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).

Is. 42:1-7; Jn. 12:1-11

Jesus must have been very close to Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Perhaps he needed to be in the company of friends and loved ones just before his death. When these friends of Jesus invited him to dinner, Martha once again waited on them, Lazarus who was raised from the dead was at table, and Mary got a very expensive perfume and anointed Jesus’s feet, wiping them with her hair. John directly accuses Judas Iscariot of being a thief in this passage of Scripture. He says Judas wasn’t interested in the poor, but only cared about what he could get from the Treasury.

RELATED: HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF HOLY WEEK.

Friends, this is the holiest of weeks. Are we ready to journey with Jesus through these days till Easter, and beyond? Does Jesus Christ have a place at the table of our hearts? Just as Martha waited on Jesus, let us learn to be of service to those around us this week. As Lazarus ate with him, so must we eat with him at the Eucharistic feast, and as Mary anointed his feet with expensive oil, so may we learn to offer him the gift of our very selves, knowing full well that nothing we could ever offer would merit us a place at God’s table. We pray that God’s grace may transform our feeble attempts to love Him more and more, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your Holy Week ahead.
