THEME: The madness that’s also ours!
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)
HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OCTOBER 6 2022
Gal.3:1-5; Luke 11:5-13
The senselessness that Paul talks about was not just a Galatian phenomenon. It’s a senselessness that plagues us all. In fact, Paul actually thinks that someone may have cast a spell on the Galatians (what is known as the evil eye), to make them suddenly behave as though it’s through their observation of the law that they’re saved. They seemed to have forgotten that God saved them ever before they knew what the law was about.
Friends, we may sometimes think we deserve the love God showers upon us because we’ve been so good and holy. The parable that Jesus gives us in the gospel reading today, beside teaching that we should be persistent in prayer, perhaps more importantly, reminds us that God does not wait till we tear down the door before He answers us. We mustn’t forget this. So we must live each day knowing that God loves us unconditionally, irrespective of the situations that sometimes colour our perception. So when we pray, we must first ask for God’s spirit, that we may begin to realise our true standing in Him.
Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
