4TH SUNDAY HOMILY, ADVENT (Yr. B).
THEME: “MARY, DO NOT BE AFRAID; YOU HAVE WON GOD’S FAVOR”

This is the 4th Sunday of Advent (Yr. B). It is very spectacular that this year 2023 also, Christmas Day is on Monday after the 4th Sunday of Advent. God wishes to teach us something very important in this regard. That is, he wants us to pray continuously and be Merry all the time. To pray continuously for the forgiveness of our iniquities because the entire world is afraid of many things happening around us. But we are assured of victory because, God sent an angel to announce: “Mary, do not be afraid, you have won God’s favor. Listen! You are to conceive and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus”(Lk.1:26-38). The savior of the world is among us, so do not be afraid!

Like Mary, we have won God’s favor through the birth of Jesus our Lord. We need not fear whatsoever may come our way. Victory has-been won for the Lord is with us. Saint Paul writes: “Glory to him who is able to give you the strength to live according to the Good News I preach, and in which I proclaim Jesus Christ , the revelation of a mystery kept secret for endless ages “(Rom. 16:25-27). Jesus is among us to save us, so do not be afraid.
The assurance that we should not be afraid gives us courage to be strong in faith. The love of God has come to renew our covenant with him. This Love-pact between God and humanity shall never end. His love endures forever. This assurance was given to David when the Lord said to him: “Your House and your sovereignty will always stand secure before me and your throne be established for ever” (2 Sam. 7:1-5. 8-12. 14.16). May the doors of our hearts be opened to welcome the new born King and Savior of the world, amen. Happy Sunday and Merry Christmas!
