TUESDAY HOMILY, 3RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME – YEAR B
THEME: David’s Dance!
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor
2 Sam.6:12-15,17-19; Mark 3:31-35
I imagine how difficult it is to glorify God in public today. No, I’m not talking about eye service. I’m talking about a genuine desire to praise God everywhere and anywhere. We’ve become too ‘civilised’. As Christians, we sometimes choose to hide our identity when visiting certain people and places. Aren’t we all guilty of this? It’s pretty strange that God can actually become a reason for us to feel embarrassed sometimes.

Friends, let’s learn something from David’s humility. Being the King didn’t stop him from dancing with all his might in front of the Ark of God, wearing a linen loin cloth round him. It didn’t matter that some thought he was disgracing himself. In the gospel reading, Jesus reminds us that only those who do God’s will are worthy to be members of his family. We must therefore forget what people say, and strive daily to serve God with the greatest enthusiasm we can manage in private and in public places. David’s became a man after God’s heart because he did God’s will. Can we do the same?
Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
