TUESDAY HOMILY / HOLY WEEK – YEAR B

THEME: One of you will betray me!

BY: Reflection by Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor

Is. 49:1-6; John 13:21-33,36-38

Many of us don’t like Judas Iscariot; and for ‘good’ reason. After all, he betrayed his Lord and master. Have you ever been betrayed by a very close friend, or by a member of your own family? The pain and disappointment is a lot worse when betrayal comes from one’s inner circle. It is a lot more difficult to bear, and the betrayed finds it very difficult to forgive the betrayer.

ALSO RECOMMENDED: PALM SUNDAY – YEAR B

Friends, although we claim to hate Judas Iscariot, don’t we sometimes do worse than he did to Jesus? We continue to betray and hate one another; we avoid the poor and needy; we turn a blind eye to oppression and injustice; we refuse to pray as we should; we receive communion in our unworthiness… Let us pray for the grace to be able to truly lay down our lives for love of God. May our sincere desire to make amends erase the many times we’ve denied our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and may we not deny our Father in heaven by our present way of life, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
