Short homily for Friday of the 2nd Week of Lent

Theme: We’re merely tenants!

By: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

Homily for Friday March 18 2022

Gen. 37:3-4,12-13,17-28; Matt 21:33-43,45-46

We can get too comfortable and forget we’re tenants here on earth. Yea, sure! It has happened too often. We forget that we’ve never been in charge and we will never be in charge. God is always in charge. He is the one and only Landlord. Look at Joseph. His brothers wanted to kill him, but God used Reuben and Judah to transport him to Egypt, and the rest is history.

Friends, let’s not try to control our lives and dominate the lives of others as though we owned them. We don’t. The Kingdom of God will only be given to those who realise they are but tenants here on earth; those who struggle daily to produce fruits for their ‘legit’ Landlord. But if we keep acting like we are the landlords, while being murderous tenants, doing whatever we like, a time will come when we’ll be reminded of our place. May we be found doing our legitimate duties when God comes, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend ahead.
