REFLECTION FOR THE MEMORIAL OF THE BEHEADING OF JOHN THE BAPTIST. (1)

REFLECTION FOR THE MEMORIAL OF THE BEHEADING OF JOHN THE BAPTIST.

THEME: JOHN IS BEHEADED FOR THE TRUTH.

BY: SR. J. K. OSIYEMI EHJ.

Mk 6: 17 – 29.

Like John I am bound by conscience to prudently speak the truth about the evil actions in my office, family, and Church. Am I ready to pay for the truth with my life? Am I defiant and bitter when told the naked truth about my actions? Am I just and fair in my dealings with others? Do I make unrealistic promises when I am in a joyful mood? Am I haunted by guilty conscience and fear for killing innocent people with gossip and lies? Am I an Herodias (bad adviser) to others? Who are the malicious Herodiases in my life?

LET US PRAY
Dear Jesus, teach me not to act when overwhelmed with emotions of extreme anger, fear, anger, joy, etc, lest I regret my actions. Lord, I am very sorry for how I have murdered truth, crushed integrity, and silenced honesty. May I always remember that the real friend gives me truthful rebuke, but the false friend is a psychophant who gives me false and secret love. Give me the courage and boldness to be truthful. Amen.
