HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE 15TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME CYCLE II
THEME: REVELATION OF GOD
BY: Fr. Francis Onwunali
HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY JULY 13 2022
One of the greatest truths of the Christian faith is that we can know the living God. Our knowledge of God is not simply limited to knowing something about God, but that we can know God personally. Jesus is a perfect revelation of God!
Jesus made this known in the gospel reading (Matt. 11: 25-27). Jesus reassures His disciples that if they are simple and willing to accept God, God will continue to be self-revealing, especially in and through Him, the Son of God. For “no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him”.
In the first reading (Is. 10: 5-7, 13-16), God condemns Assyria for overstepping its boundaries in dealing with the Chosen People, and reassures of remembering His holy relationship with His people.
Dear friends, in sharing in our humanity, Jesus is able to communicate and demonstrate God’s love in a way that has never been known to humanity before. This Jesus’ sharing in our humanity raises us to share in the Divine Life of the Trinity. The essence of this God’s self-revelation is for us to enter into a personal relationship with God. Where am I in this process of knowing God personally in Christ Jesus?
I pray as we journey in life today, we will meditate immensely on this privileged opportunity God has given to us to share in the divine life. May we continue to be grateful to God for who He has called us to be. Have a glory-full day!
