HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OF THE 5TH WEEK OF EASTER

THEME: Be tenacious!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

HOMILY FOR TUESDAY MAY 17 2022

Acts 14:19-28; John 14:27-31

To be tenacious means to hold on; to be stubborn, like undying weed. Yes! This is the attitude the disciple must cultivate, if he/she intends to bring about any real change in our world today. Imagine what happened to Paul today. Jews (not strangers) turned his own flock against him and they stoned him, leaving him for dead. But what did the young man do? He got up and went back into the same town that rejected him. Then he continued his mission the next day.

Friends, we may have had very discouraging moments in our journey through life; in our journey of faith – moments that were occasioned sometimes by those we consider friends. However, we can’t afford to grieve eternally. God’s work must continue. Jesus tells us not to let our hearts be troubled. The Prince of this world has no power over us. We must hold on in faith, like Paul and Banabas did. We must keep our eyes on the goal, and struggle on. In Jesus, we know that we cannot fail. Are you with me?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, every new day is a gift from you. Thank you so much for your loving care over us through the night. May we not be discouraged today by the harsh realities we face. Give us the grace to hold on to you, with eyes fixed on the goal, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
