Theme: Faithful family

Homily for Sunday December 27 2020
Today we are celebrating the Divine Family of Jesus, Joseph and Mary. A family where every one is guided by his or her own duties and obligations. The Holy family may not be successful as the world measure, but it is a good example of faithful family.
What kills the family, Church, community and our world at large is unfaithfulness to our duties and obligations. The altitude of women in the church is very much encouraging. Among all the organizations in the Church, they seem to be more faithful in fulfilling their Christian obligation than others.
No matter where you are, what you are assigned to do and who you do it for, learn to be faithful, even when your colleagues are not faithful. If Adam was faithful to Lord’s command after Eve had failed, their being taken out from the garden of Eden will not be the story. Many Christians including priests, religious and lay faithful have decided to be unfaithful because their follows are no longer faithful in their respective ministries, administrations, and vocation.
In the face of challenges and uncertainties, Joseph was still faithful and righteous in loving Mary. Mary was still submissive to Joseph, while Jesus was obedient to them, eating what is set before him. Unlike many children eating what their family can not afford which is beginning of criminality in their future identity.
Let us behave like Joseph, Mary and Jesus so that our families will be a mirror of Holy family. Be faithful to your duties always, your faithfulness can save your family and those around you from being rejected.
May the qualities of this Holy family continue to cast its shadows in our earthly families. May God grant us the grace to be individually and collectively faithful in keeping our daily Christian obligations.
Happy ongoing Christmas season!
Happy Feast of Holy family!
