Homily for Saturday of the 5th Week in Ordinary Time Year II
Theme: In God’s care!
By: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor
Homily for Saturday February 15 2020
(Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary).
I Kings 12:26-32,13:33-34; Mark 8:1-10
Sometimes, we can decide to deliberately move away from God’s care and compassion. Take Jeroboam for instance, who made two golden calves, appointed priests from ordinary families to make sacrifices to them, and forbade the people from going up to Jerusalem to worship the true God. We are told that his conduct caused the ruin of his house, and extinction from the face of the earth.
Friends, in the gospel reading, we see that it pays to remain in God’s care. After Jesus had taught the people for three days, he didn’t leave them hungry, but fed all four thousand of them with seven loaves and a few fish. We cannot rely on fortune tellers and soothsayers. We must not erect other gods in our hearts. We must remain in God’s care, without fear. He has everything we need. Like Mary, may we do God’s will here on earth, that we may go up to his eternal care in the end.
Please continue to pray for the safe release of Rev Fr Nicholas Oboh. Good morning dear. God bless your weekend!
