*INTRODUCTION*
Good morning dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we celebrate Friday of week 19 in Ordinary Time, Year A.

*FROM OUR FIRST READING*
At the end of today’s first reading, God is presented as saying to the people, ‘I gave you a land where you never toiled…’ The people are being reminded that so much of what they possess is God’s gift. That is true of all of our lives. So much of what we have has been given to us. Very often what we value most about ourselves and our lives is not the result of our own effort but has landed in our lap, as it were. We are greatly graced; we have been greatly grace, in particular, through Christ, and that is why the fundamental attitude of the Christian is one of gratitude.

*FROM OUR GOSPEL READING*
Jesus in today’s gospel deals with the question of marriage very wisely. He reminds us that marriage is something sacred. It is a union between a man and a woman who are in love with each other and has been blessed by God from the beginning. God’s intention is that this union be permanent. Ideally the couple lives together and tries to work out the different problems and difficulties that sometimes occur. In other words, divorce and separation which is not the ideal, is not in the vocabulary of God. And the reason why Jesus condemns divorce is that, Christian marriage is a human expression of God’s love for His people.

*CONCLUSION*
Nowadays, I hear many people that the Church should allow divorce because of so many family problems that cannot be resolved. It can only be resolved through divorce. The Church sees the problem and helps as much as possible through the process of accompaniment of couples and marriage counseling. The ideal of mutual, faithful love within marriage, and of being single for the sake of the kingdom, is possible only with God’s grace. Every day we need to ask the Lord for the grace, the resources, we need to live as he is calling us to live and desires us to live.
May the love and mercy of God be with us always.
