YEAR B: HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY 8TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

HOMILY THEME: NOBODY CARES

BY: Fr. Karabari Paul

“They will condemn him to death.”

The cross is a central thing to Christians. We wear it, hang it on church and residential walls. But how often do we stop and think about what the cross actually symbolises? Those who know the time of their death die twice. Jesus knew He was going to die. Dying on the cross was going to be a horrific experience for Him, but He remained faithful to God. He trusted God enough to walk through this plan, even though He knew He would suffer.

In today’s Gospel (Mark 10:32-43), Jesus’s journey to Jerusalem was an important one, and He took with Him the twelve. He decided to reveal to them the suffering that was in a near future store for Him. Unfortunately, they chose the time to seek positions of authority. None was interested in His pain. They wanted power. Sometimes, we walk through things in life that we wish we didn’t have to. We have to face grief, illness, broken hearts, conflict, loneliness, etc. Sadly enough, they people we look up to for consolation could be more interested in other unrelated businesses; they just don’t care about what we are going through.

Sometimes, brothers and sisters fight over family assets while their father is on sick bed in the hospital. Or do we talk about those who use the sorrowful conditions of others as means of conducting business? There are people who pretend to be helping deceased family while making serious money out of their sympathetic condition. Like Jesus, we must still bear with people who don’t care about our pains. It is not abnormal to be left alone by friends and family members when in suffering. We only pray for the courage to face whatever we can’t change. GOD IS STILL ON THE THRONE. God bless you and your household always through Christ Our Lord Amen. You remain in my prayers. Good Morning
