SHORT HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE 5TH WEEK OF EASTER

THEME: Do you have a ripple effect?

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY MAY 18 2022

Acts 15:1-6; John 15:1-8

When a little stone is thrown into a large body of water, it causes ripples. Even though the stone is small, the ripple effects go far and wide. In the first reading, Paul and Barnabas continue their missionary work, and when the problem of circumcision of converts arose, they were sent to Jerusalem to seek clarification. Their ministry had ripple effects on the people, because they were grafted onto Jesus the Vine.

Friends, Jesus says that cut off from him we can do nothing. Look around you. Is there anything in you or in me that brings about a positive change in our immediate environments? If not, we’re not well grafted to Jesus Christ. That’s why we’re not causing positive ripples around us. Let us make efforts to do something about this. We must strive daily to become more active and fruitful in our lives as Christians. The positive ripples we’ll engender, can make all the difference. We don’t want to be cut off now, do we?

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
