Theme: Knowing what the master wants!

Homily for Wednesday October 20 2021

Rom.6:12-18; Luke 12:39-48

As a mass server back in the day, one picture I could never understand was that of priests insulting people from the pulpit, or knocking and slapping catechists and mass servers as though they were there to serve them. Jesus says the master will come at an hour we do not expect. We should spend the precious time we have getting prepared; not beating up and maltreating those who serve God in us, because we feel we’re more privileged. When a man has had a great deal given him, even more will be expected of him.

Friends, it is a grave sin to abuse divine power. This is one of the ways we work for Satan and his kingdom. St Paul admonishes us not to let any part of us become so obedient to sin, that we no longer remember we are living by grace and not by the dictates of the law. We must understand that in Christ Jesus, the priest is a servant of God’s people; the bishop is a higher servant, and the Pope is servant of the servants of God. We must refuse to be slaves to pride and arrogance. If we continue to abuse the power God has given us, we shall receive strokes too numerous to be counted.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
