Short homily for Tuesday of the 34th Week in Ordinary Time Cycle I

Theme: Earthly Kingdoms pass away!

By: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

Homily for Tuesday November 23 2021

Dan.2:31-45; Luke 21:5-11

It was not his age that amazed the King, it was most probably the candour of his words, and the courage of his bearing. It was one thing to be a prophet, but another to be a courageous one. Daniel wasn’t afraid of telling King Nebuchadnezzar the meaning of his dream; even though it was not favorable to the King. In fact, after his long explanation, Daniel made well to tell the King that “the dream is true, [and] the interpretation EXACT!”

So when we cower before rulers and kings, we must never forget that their days are numbered. Think about the powerful African empires now gone. Think about the brutal regimes of tyrannical leaders now dead, buried and forgotten. Friends, a time will come when not even earthly structures shall hold sway. So why do we lick boots, run after lying politicians, and sing the praises of corrupt and religious rulers? Take care not to be deceived; only one Kingdom lasts forever – God’s Kingdom! Let’s build that kingdom on earth by our way of life.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead!
