Homily for Saturday November 7 2021

(Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary).

Daniel 7:15-27; Luke 21:34-36

Today is the last day of ordinary time, and tomorrow’s our new year. It’ll be the first Sunday of Advent, Year C. It’s already the season of “Marana tha! Come Lord Jesus!” In today’s Gospel, this same Jesus tells us to watch ourselves, that our hearts may not stray towards a life of materialism and wastefulness. We’re told to stay awake, praying at all times, that the day of the Lord may not descend upon us like a thief in the night.

Friends, let us make genuine efforts to identify with the eternal kinship of Jesus Christ. Earthly kings may wield much influence in the here and now. Wordly powers may hold sway for a time, but only to Jesus Christ belongs all power. His kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey them. Friends, three years was enough for Jesus Christ to inspire the world with his good news of salvation. We have been alive for many years now, how many hearts have we touched? May the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of God lead us to a more genuine form of discipleship, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend.
