REFLECTION FOR TUESDAY OF THE 5TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I. (1)

REFLECTION FOR TUESDAY OF THE 5TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I.

THEME: GOD’S COMMAND IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN HUMAN TRADITION

BY: SR. J. K. OSIYEMI, EHJ.

Mk 7: 1-13.

Jesus tells me that cleanliness of heart should replace the hypocritical laws of the Pharisees that hinder people from coming to God and obeying the divine precepts. Do I also manipulate some Church and cultural traditions for my own self-interest? What are the real and hidden motives behind my religious practices and tradition? Have I misplaced my priorities and running after shadows?

LET US PRAY
Help me Lord Jesus to be real and human so as to serve you more authentically, to glorify you and to help fellow human beings. ‘May what is false within me before your truth give way’. Give me the grace not to overly exult my external deeds and achievements, but to obey your commandment of love of God and neighbour. Grant that I may give due respect to all who play parental role in my life. Amen.
