Reflection for Sunday February 6 2022
Lk 5: 1 – 11.
Spiritual fulfilment and success follow me when I allow the Divine Master to direct and take absolute control of the events of my life. Jesus wants me imperfect as I am to make more effort, to try one more time. I ought to know that only God can give success to the work of my hands when I listen, trust and obey the inspiration he gives me. Today, I will write down the many pleasant surprising experiences the Lord has favoured me with despite my sinfulness. With faith I must carry out Jesus’ instruction as Peter did when asked to put out into the deep. Jesus wants me put out into the deep by dropping my pride and going to apologize to those I’ve bullied or those I’ve cheated or lied against. Miraculous inner peace and joy can flow in abundance from this simple act. Do I also encourage and cheer up those who are about to give up their dreams and give in to despair and depression? Why am I scared of following Jesus to the deep and unknown place of my ideal self where I can discover the true meaning and purpose of life? Do I realize that even those who are not as professional and experienced as I am can offer me bright ideas?
LET US PRAY
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for surprising a sinful and unworthy person like me with superabundant blessings and extravagant divine graces. May the life changing experiences you have favoured me with propel me to ever seek to catch souls and draw them to You. Give me the humility to listen to the ideas of those I consider inexperienced. Sweet Jesus, you alone know how to multiply my joy. You do not want me to toil fruitlessly and be discouraged, crown my efforts with success, and grant me the grace to obey your call to catch people for you, and to follow you faithfully. Amen.
