REFLECTION FOR MONDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A. (1)

REFLECTION FOR MONDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I.

THEME: NEW WINE, NEW WINESKIN

BY: SR. J. K. OSIYEMI, EHJ.

Mk 2: 18-22.

Jesus was criticized for celebrating life and not fasting. I must know that real fasting is to abstain from sinful activities. Jesus gives me wisdom to know that just as there is a right place and a right time for fasting and for feasting, so there is a right place for the old as well as the new. He doesn’t want me to hold rigidly to the past and be resistant to the new work of the Holy Spirit in my life. Am I judgmental and overcritical of others? Do I value Scripture and tradition while respecting moral law?

LET US PRAY
Dear God, I am eager to grow in the knowledge and understanding of your Word and plan for my life. I want my mind and heart to be like new wine skins – open and ready to receive the new wine of the Holy Spirit in my life. Help me to make the best use of both the old and the new. Teach me the importance of integrity and consistency. Help me to show tolerance and understanding to others.
