Jesus breaking bread

REFLECTION FOR MONDAY OF 3RD WEEK OF EASTER.

THEME: REASONS FOR SEEKING JESUS.

BY: SR. J. K. OSIYEMI EHJ.

Jn 6: 22-29.

My reason for seeking Jesus needs to be critically examined. I should seek God to adore and worship him, not as a useful tool to exploit. Jesus is calling me to deeper faith and commitment to trust wherever and whenever I seek him. Why do I seek God? When do I seek God? What am I earnestly seeking when I call on God? What spiritual experiences and signs have I seen that make me keep longing for a closer union with God? What can I do today to accomplish the work of God? Do I go for Sunday Mass just because the law requires that I keep the Sabbath day holy? Do I seek for friends and do friends seek me just for material benefit or for spiritual comfort?

LET US PRAY
Dear Jesus, you’re the sign of God’s love and mercy, give me the right motive, purify my intention and give me the desire to seek you for my own salvation. Teach me the value of praise prayer over petition prayer. Grant me the wisdom to seek you not for material gain but for the salvation of my own soul. Give me the grace to pray in times of joy (consolation), and not just in times of trouble (desolation). Amen.
