HOMILY/SERMON FOR 14TH WEDNESDAY OF ORDINARY TIME – YEAR B
HOMILY THEME: BREAK UP YOUR FALLOW GROUND!
Fr. Oselumhense Anetor
Hos.10:1-3.7-8. l2; Matt. 10:1-7
Sometimes, we get so overridden by evil, that our hearts become like abandoned and untended gardens, overrun by weeds of all kinds. In the first reading, the prophet Hosea encourages Israel to re-cultivate her heart by genuinely seeking the Lord. We do this by sowing seeds of righteousness, that we might reap from the abundance of God’s mercy.

Friends, just as Jesus summoned his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to cast them out and to cure all kinds of diseases and sickness, so also he calls me and you to go about our daily activities, preaching that the Kingdom of God is at hand. To be effective messengers of Christ, we must first internalise the message to be better human beings, to with the grace of baptism at work in us, cast out the reign of darkness in our lives, that our witnessing may be more authentic and genuine.
