HOMILY OF TUESDAY 15TH WEEK OF ORDINARY TIME – YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: IT WILL NOT GO AS HARD WITH SODOM ON JUDGEMENT DAY AS WITH YOU

BY: Fr Deotacious Chikontwe SMA

Isa 7:1-9; Psalm 48:2-8; Matt. 11:20-24

In our first reading, Isaiah reassures King Ahaz not to fear his enemies because God promises protection. This teaches us to trust in God’s promises even when facing challenges. Trusting in God brings peace and strength.

In the Gospel passage of today, Jesus condemns towns that did not repent after witnessing His miracles. He warns that their judgment will be severe, more than that of notoriously sinful cities. This highlights the importance of repentance. Seeing God’s works should lead us to examine our lives and turn away from sin.

CONCLUSION
Dear brothers and sisters, ignoring God’s call to repent has serious consequences. Jesus compares the unrepentant towns to Tyre, Sidon, and Sodom, known for their great sins. He says the judgment on the towns that ignored His miracles will be worse. This teaches us the seriousness of unbelief and the need to respond to God’s signs with faith and action.
We are reminded to believe in God’s promises and to change our ways when we encounter His works. By doing so, we can avoid the harsh judgment that comes from ignoring God’s call and live according to His will.

May God’s love and protection be with you!
