HOMILY OF THURSDAY 13TH WEEK OF THE ORDINARY TIME – YEAR B
HOMILY THEME: DON’T BE THE UNAPPRECIATIVE SCRIBE!
BY: Fr. Oselumhense Anetor
Amos 7:10-17, Ps. 19:8-11, Matthew 9:1-8
Today, Jesus decides to reward the faith of those who brought him a paralytic for healing. But the scribes just wouldn’t believe that Jesus had the power to forgive sins. Rather than accept his authority, they preferred to call him a blasphemer! However, to prove to them that he indeed had authority on earth to forgive sins, Jesus took the miracle further. The paralytic was the better for it.

Friends, no matter how good we are, no matter how much efforts we make, no matter how much we try to improve the lives of others, there’ll always be the ‘unappreciative scribe’ in the crowd, who would never be impressed by our efforts. Someone, or a group of persons will always see something wrong in our genuine attempts to be better. Don’t get discouraged. Your attempts were never about them, it was always about God. Pick up your self-confidence and strive on!
God bless your day ahead.
