INTRODUCTION
Good Morning my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we celebrate the 13th Sunday in the Ordinary Time, Liturgical Calendar Year B.

FROM OUR FIRST READING
Our first reading this morning, expresses a developed thinking about life, death and the afterlife. This passage, emphasizes that God created all things good and that death entered the world because of the devil. The devil and sinful ways associated with the influence of the devil on humanity upsets God’s plan for creation.

God’s intention always has been and always will be for life. Even physical death, which all humans must undergo, is not the last word, for God’s righteousness is immortal, and humans partake of that immortality, understood as the possibility for humans to participate in everlasting life with God in heaven after this life.

FROM OUR SECOND READING
In our second reading, the apostle Paul urges us to excel in giving. By sharing our abundance, we help meet the needs of others. He says that, Strive to excel in generosity, following Christ’s example. Share your abundance to create equality, ensuring everyone’s needs are met.

FROM OUR GOSPEL READING
Today’s Gospel Reading adds two more demonstrations of Jesus’ divine authority: He has authority over disease and over death. The two stories of the Gospel are connected by the number 12: The woman suffered a hemorrhage for 12 years and the little girl was only 12 when she died. As well, in both stories, the women are called “daughters.” Both stories manifest faith in Jesus: Jesus tells the woman that her faith has saved her and Jesus invites Jairus to put away fear and have faith. Gifts are generously bestowed in both stories: the woman received the gifts of faith, peace, healing, and salvation; the girl received the gift of restoration to life.

CONCLUSION
Just as the Lord was present to Jairus and the woman in their need, he is present to us in our need too. He doesn’t mind how we approach him. Sometimes our approach to him will be very public, like that of Jairus. At other times, our approach will be more like that of the woman; we have secret wounds and we bring them to the Lord as privately as possible. Yet, regardless of our approach, the Lord is always there to receive us; he wants to relate to us in a very personal way, as ‘my daughter’ or ‘my son’. He will always relate to us as Life-Giver, because what he wants for each of us is life to the full. Even when we are faced with the death of a loved one, Jesus assures us that he has power over death and will bring those who turn to him through death into a new and glorious life, a sharing in his risen life.

May you all have a Blessed Sunday.
