HOMILY OF 25TH FRIDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B
HOMILY OF 25TH FRIDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B
HOMILY THEME: THE CALL TO PERSONAL WITNESSING!
BY: Fr Oselumhense Anetor
When I was a little child, I couldn’t exactly tell the difference between Vincent De Paul, and Vincent the Poor. All I heard was the latter. And I always wondered how apt it was that one who was so concerned with the poor was named after the poor. You probably have heard about the Vincentians, or the Sisters of Charity. These are holy men and women who actually do something about the many poor people around, after the example of Vincent De Paul.

Friends, we cannot be true ministers of the gospel if we haven’t first acknowledged that Jesus is indeed the Christ of God. It is this personal witness that encourages us to see him in the suffering and the needy. Our mission therefore is to take the message of the suffering Christ to people everywhere, especially to those who have been abandoned by society. This was what St. Vincent De Paul did. Friends, service to the poor, and compassion towards one another, at whatever cost is what we need in our world today. There can be no glory without a cross. Will you do your bit?
God bless your weekend head. St Vincent De Paul, pray for us.
