HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE 6TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I. (2)
HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE 6TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I.
THEME: Give thanks!
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)
Gen.8:6-13,20-22; Mark 8:22-26
Imagine how Noah must have felt after his family got saved in the Ark. After waiting patiently for the waters to recede from the earth’s surface, he built an altar to the Lord, and choosing from all the clean animals and all the clean birds, he offered burnt offerings on the altar. But that’s not the best part. The best part is that God perceived the appeasing fragrance and made a decision never to curse the earth again.

Friends, think about this for a second. “How can I repay the Lord for His goodness to me?” Two things: we need to develop an attitude of thanksgiving. Then we must learn to wait on God like Noah did. Remember also that Jesus did not heal the blind man in today’s gospel reading instantly. He first led him by the hand till they were outside the village. The man must have wondered where Jesus was taking him. But he waited in hope. Are there vows we have made to God? Fulfil them, while waiting in hope. And by all means, be GRATEFUL!
