HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE 30TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II.

THEME: Do it for the Lord’s sake!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 26 2022

Eph.6:1-9; Ps.143:10-14; Luke 13:22-30

Today’s first reading is one of my favorite portions of scripture. Paul tries to qualify the kind of relationship that should exist between children and parents, slaves and masters and vice versa. It’s not enough to encourage children to be obedient to their parents; parents must also guide their children as the Lord would, not driving them to anger and resentment.

It’s not enough to tell slaves to be obedient to those who’re called their masters in this world; but all those who have employees must not threaten them, or make them feel worthless, since we all have the same Master in heaven, and he’s not impressed by one person more than another. So whatever we do, we must do ultimately for God’s sake. When we struggle to obey, and love, and care for God’s sake, irrespective of what the world wants, we gradually progress along the narrow way to heaven.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
