HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE 1ST WEEK OF LENT.
THEME: This is an EVIL GENERATION!
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).
Jonah 3:1-10; Luke 11:29-32
One of the things I admire most about Jesus is his bluntness with truth. He does not try to coat his language in order not to offend the sensibilities of the people. Jesus called his generation ‘wicked’ because they wanted ‘proof’ in order to believe. He tells them that the only sign that matters is that of Jonah – the word of God that brings about a change of heart. Perhaps we need this rhema in Nigeria today, much more than at any other time in our history.

Friends, our generation today is perhaps much more wicked than Jesus’s generation ever was. Yes! The sign of Jonah is never enough for us. We want to see pastors and preachers levitate. We want to see oceans change into wine, and mountains thrown into the sea. Hmmm! Jonah preached with reluctance, and yet the people repented. Why are we still the way we are, even with all the preaching going on? Why do we keep celebrating corruption, thuggery, election rigging, vote selling/buying, etc? We must pray with the psalmist today, that God creates in us a new heart.
Good morning dear, God bless your day ahead!
