HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OF THE 7TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I. (1)

HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OF THE 7TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I.

THEME: Prepare for an ordeal!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).

Sirach 2:1-11; Mark 9:30-37

The book of Sirach /Ecclesiasticus gives us worthy instruction today, “Son, if you aspire to serve the Lord, prepare for an ordeal.” This is because serving God isn’t easy. Just as gold bears testing by fire, so the chosen ones pass through the furnace of humiliation. We must therefore trust God, hope in Him, and continue to walk in straight paths.

RELATED: HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF THE 7TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I

Sometimes we get carried away by the prospect of fame and popularity. This was why Jesus’s disciples were arguing about who was the greatest, when Jesus was busy trying to prepare them for His impending suffering, death and resurrection. Friends, until we learn to be humbler, refusing to be carried away by fame and popularity, and until we leave it all in God’s hands, we may as yet not be ready for the ordeal of serving God.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
