Homily for Tuesday of the 5th Week in Ordinary Time Year A
Theme: DIVINE CULTURE AND TRADITION
By: Rev Fr Joseph Nyarko Asare
Homily for Tuesday, February 12 2019
(Gen 1:20-2:4/Ps 8:4-9/Mk 7:1-13)
God created us in His image and likeness and made us stewards of creation. We manage the world of God for our own benefit/enjoyment and for the glory of God. God made creation for us and made it very good. We enjoy creation with God’s heart and mind.
Like spiritual gifts that increases and sharpens with proper usage (lovingly and humbly ministering for the love of humanity), creation increases and develops when properly used. When we eschew the human traditions of exploitation, selfish acquisition, unplanned utilisation and careless enjoyment, we will begin to experience the best in creation for ourselves and for the future generation.
There is an intelligence behind creation. We need to step into that intelligence to enjoy creation. We must embrace the Divine culture of love, humility, proper planning, generosity, and stewardship. The Spirit of God influences us to keep the culture of God. We are in God’s image and must operate in God’s glory and honour.
~That we will live as God’s image and likeness
~For the grace to live as stewards ~That we will see the goodness in creation
