HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OF THE 5TH WEEK OF EASTER
THEME: That your Joy may be complete!
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)
HOMILY FOR THURSDAY MAY 19 2022
Acts 15:7-21; John 15:9-11
Have you even been dealt with by guilt? Not the guilt that comes before sin; the one that wrenches your soul after you’ve fallen into temptation? Yes? Then you have an idea why sin is capable of killing our Joy. One of the sins the council of Jerusalem specifically cautioned the early Christians to avoid was FORNICATION. We can add ADULTERY. Together, these sins have wrecked marriages, broken hearts too many to be counted, and put an abrupt stop to many relationships.
These sins have also led to the murder of many babies and prevented others from being conceived. They have destroyed whole families, and sent souls to eternal damnation. Friends, we must continue to make efforts. How can we say we love God if we make no attempts to keep his commandments? How can we be at peace when we have equated love with our raging sexual urges and desires? How can our Joy be complete if we do not strive to love more selflessly? May God give us the grace to be more committed Christians, Amen.
Prayer
Father in heaven, today I pledge my heart to you. May your grace move me, that I may not rob my life of joy by my many mistakes, Amen.
Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
