Homily for Thursday July 18 2019

Readings: Exodus 3:13-20; Matthew 11:28-30

Indeed the place of technology in our modern world is very obvious. Even though some think technology has side effects but without over exaggerated influence, the influence of technology has made significant impact in people’s life. Work, travelling, business and communication including research and education has become a lot more easier because of the advent of technology. But for those who don’t these technologies or a particular technological equipment, their toil continues. To avoid suffering and toil, we go for the best to help out.

Our readings tells us the best to help us out. It’s not technology despite its good, it has bad side. But we have God who is always good, he doesn’t spoil, he is not expensive or difficult to get. That’s what God communicated to Moses in the first reading. He has decided out of his own goodwill to intervene in the misery of the Isrealites in Egypt. He is I am that I am, the ever present God who has a rich history with the ancestors. When you need a good product, you check it’s reviews and ask people that have used it how effective it is. God is very effective that is what Jesus explained in the gospel. Come to me all who labour and get rest for your soul for my burden is light….

My dear friends, we really don’t have to suffer for nothing when we have a help waiting for us. If you are travelling, instead of working a long distance, won’t you enter a free car of your father whom you trust? We need to make use of this opportunity God keeps offering us everyday by trusting him more and attaching ourselves to him. We need to have God by our side in our struggles of life to help us through. May God help us out of our troubles of life. Amen.
