*INTRODUCTION*
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we celebrate the Pentecost Sunday. This Sunday commemorates three big events. The first event is the end of the glorious and joyful season of Easter. The second event, is the descending of the Holy Spirit upon all the Apostles and disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. The third event, is the celebration of the birthday of the Catholic Church. The Mother Catholic Church was born on the day of Pentecost.

*ABOUT OUR FIRST READING*
In our first reading, we hear how the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, enabling them to speak in different languages and leading to the conversion of thousands. This event marked the beginning of the Church, and the Holy Spirit continued to play a vital role in its growth and development.

*ABOUT OUR SECOND READING*
In our second reading, Paul emphasizes the importance of the various gifts given by the Holy Spirit, such as prophecy, healing, and teaching, among others. These gifts are meant to be used for the benefit of the entire body of Christ and to build up the Church.

*ABOUT OUR GOSPEL READING*
In our Gospel reading today, Jesus breathes on his disciples, giving them the gift of the Holy Spirit and commissioning them to continue his work of forgiveness and reconciliation in the world. Through the Holy Spirit, believers are empowered to do the work of Christ and to spread the Gospel message to all nations.

*CONCLUSION*
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the Holy Spirit comes into our lives to enliven all our natural gifts and to empower us to use them in the service of the Lord. There is a variety of gifts but always the same Spirit’. The Holy Spirit empowers each one of us in a way that is unique to each of us, so that, the Lord can work ‘in all sorts of different ways in different people. We are distinct, unique, members of the body of Christ, each of us vitally important in the Lord’s eyes. He needs each of us to be empowered by his Spirit if his good work is to continue in our world today. Today, we pray for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit upon us so that we may have a new desire and a new energy to do the work of the Lord.

Your Word Lord is indeed my Strength. I wish everyone a Blessed Pentecost Sunday and Happy Blessed birthday to our Mother Catholic Church.
