HOMILY FOR THE MEMORIAL OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY.
THEME: Use money to win friends!
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).
HOMILY FOR SATURDAY NOVEMBER 5 2022.
Phil.4:10-19; Luke 16:9-15
Do you know anyone who can’t part with money? It will be difficult for that person to make heaven. Period! Money truly belongs to no one. It doesn’t matter how much you’ve struggled to get it. When money does not change hands, when it does not ease suffering, when it does not leave your store house to make things better for your neighbour, it’s useless. The attachment to money can’t be greater than our love for God or neighbour. Remember, people may praise your wealth, but that same wealth is loathsome to God if it becomes a god.
One who’s ready to serve God doesn’t worry too much about money, food or clothing. St Paul tells us that much in today’s first reading. The love of money does not let us see beyond our noses most times. Let us become more like the Philippians who made sure Paul had all he needed. Let us become more like Mary, who always considered the needs of others before hers. Let us pray for the grace to learn to use money and material possessions wisely, that we may not lose what truly matters at the end of it all. We pray for the grace to focus on making the world a better place through the judicious use of our material possessions, Amen.
Good morning dear. God bless your weekend. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for Us!
