Homily for the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C
Theme: “HOW HAPPY ARE YOU WHO ARE POOR”

Homily for Sunday February 12 2022
This is the 6th Sunday in ordinary time. Those who put their trust in God are blessed. But those who trust in the things of the world lack interior joy and peace. For Jeremiah, one whose heart turns from the Lord is cursed (Jer. 17: 5-8). This shows that the one who trusts in the Lord has inner peace and joy.
When the heart is filled with joy it becomes calm and contemplates the things above. This gives rise to faith in Christ’s resurrection from the dead (cf. 1Cor. 15:12, 16-20). Those who accept the fact of the resurrection of Christ are happy because they got a sound teaching.
Jesus confirms this sound teaching when he fixed his eyes on his disciples and said: “How happy are you who are poor; yours is the kingdom of God” (Lk. 6:17. 20 – 26). Those who have strong faith in Christ always suffer for it. The most important aspect of their faith is it’s radically. That is, not counting the gain or the loss involved in accepting Christ. May we never be discouraged by whatever we encounter as we follow Christ, amen. Happy Sunday.
