HOMILY FOR THE 31ST THURSDAY IN ORDINARY TIME: YEAR A
HOMILY THEME: WE BELONG TO GOD!
BY: Fr Oselumhense Anetor
Rom 14:7-12; Psalm 27:1, 4, 13-14; Luke 15:1-10
Human beings are always too concerned about ‘externals’. We look at appearances and conclude that some are sinners while others are saints; and we’re very often wrong in our impressions. With our very little knowledge, we make unfair judgements about those who may even be far better than us. Why were the Scribes and Pharisees uncomfortable that Jesus welcomed those they considered sinners?

Friends, Jesus Christ reminds us that one ‘lost’ but ‘found’ sheep is the cause of great rejoicing to the Shepherd who desires our salvation. It’s always about finding Christ, knowing him, and working towards salvation. St Paul makes it clear in the first reading that alive or dead, we belong to the Lord. So rather than waste time making erroneous comments about everyone else, we ought to strive to be better human beings daily, knowing that in the end, it is to God that we all must give an account of our lives.
Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
