HOMILY FOR THE 23RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A.
THEME: …tell it to the Community.

(a) It pleases God that the human life be lived as a community. It pleases him that our quarrels, difficulties and challenges be resolved as a community “..if he does not listen to you, tell it to the community”(Mt. 18) as the last resort.
(b) The greatest challenge of mankind is the life-styles individualism; where each one lives and only seeks for himself; and wether the other lives or dies, is not of interest. Everyone just minding his business. The modern man thinks this is the city life-style but actually it is the bane of the human development and a lurking danger; the problem affecting the whole community but resolved only in an individual is a multiplied problem; the society becomes poorer and the one individual that thinks he is safe and secured lives in the multiplied danger.

(c) The solution is to seek and think community. We are created to be community, a family bound with love. The love we want from others, we must be ready to give to the others. Like the Prophet Ezekiel, we are made to watch the back of one another, we are answerable and responsible for the good of one another. Our common problems are easily resolved as a family and community. God meets us and strengthens us as a community. The family and Church is a community of Faith, It pleases God to meet us as a gathered community, beautifully expressed, “where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in their midst, at the center. Despite the human frailties, seek God above all who occupies the central-place of the Church community.
