HOMILY THEME: BUILDING A BETTER WORLD

Wisdom 18:6-9, Hebrews 11:1-2.8-19, Luke 12:32-48
Luke 12:33 “Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy”.
Two of the gifts we have come to mind: T T: (THOUGHTS and TIME)
THOUGHTS:
How much of my thoughts are spent on the good of others? How can I do good to others when I don’t first wish them well? From here comes naturally praying for the good of others. It doesn’t really matter if I have the material means now… Because if I don’t spend thoughts on the good I ought to do for others, when the resources come, they will naturally go to where my thoughts and heart are. Daily purification of our thoughts is inevitable! Why did I do or say that? To be paid, praised or noticed? Or because it was a good that needed to be done and God gave me the privilege to participate?

TIME
At the end of each day, how did I spend the 24 hours I have? Spent only for works that pay me? How much time have I for especially the old and lonely people? Or am I only ready to roll with the happening people? My parents, grandparents, those old people in my village… One of the best things to do could be to cultivate the habit of visiting old people, cleaning their house, washing their clothes, LISTENING to their stories (and LAMENTS) about how things have changed… learning from their mistakes and wise actions… receiving blessings from them, etc..
Let me not talk about visiting the sick at homes and hospitals.
