HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK OF LENT.
THEME: I will go back home!
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).
Micah 7:14-15,18-20; Luke 15:1-3,11-32
It’s a very long gospel reading today. The man in our gospel reading was an unlucky man; blessed with two sons who didn’t really love him. The second son wished him dead; why else would he be demanding his share of the property from a Father who was still alive? The first son was not better either. He was not serving his father out of genuine love, but dutifully, in order to earn his own share of the property when the right time came.
RELATED: HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK OF LENT
Hmm! Friends, that’s how we often are with God. Some of us strive to love Him because of what we hope to gain, while others love him only from a sense of duty. But God is very patient with us. He reasons with us when we have little compassion for one another. He is patient when we lose our minds and run off after sin and pleasure. He waits everyday with open arms for his lost sons and daughters to come home. Above all, he wants our love for him to be unconditional and sincere. May we find the strength to come to our senses and return home today, Amen.
Good morning dear. God bless your weekend.
