HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OF THE 14TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME CYCLE II

THEME: Here I am send me!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

HOMILY FOR SATURDAY JULY 9 2022

Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Is.6:1-8; Matt.10:24-33

We remember the late Evangelist Sunny Okosun for many things. But what we all remember about him are his songs. I remember one particular one, “here I am (here I am), send me (send me), anywhere (anywhere) for you Lord (for you), here I am… If you hear the voice of the Lord (what will you say?) I will say, here I am send me… Okay, enough of the singing. It is true that God’s glory should invoke in us an overwhelming sense of our own unworthiness. However, God purges our iniquities and takes our sins away if we sincerely ask Him to.

Friends, once we are purged, nothing should prevent us from making ourselves available for the mission. Jesus encourages us not to be scared of anything or anyone, for whatever is covered will be made bare, and whatever is hidden will be made clear. This is a clear message to us in Nigeria, as we wallow in the relentless spate of brutal killings of priests and God’s people. We must open our mouths therefore and declare ourselves for God in the presence of men and women. This is how to ensure that we remain in the Father’s love. So when God says to you today, “whom shall I send, who will be our messenger?” What will you say?

May our Mother Mary pray for us, that we may be disposed for the mission, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend. May the soul of Rev. Fr. Christopher Odia rest in peace. Amen.
